Color Challenge #58-Purple, Orange, Black & White

Hi everyone.  Lynne here.
If you as old as I am, you may remember the original Dark Shadows soap opera on every afternoon shortly after I got home from school.  And if you really know me, you would know that I LOVE Johnny Depp and my daughter is a huge fan of Tim Burton films.  So when this movie was released, there was no question that we would go.   By the way, if you are on the East coast of the US, this challenge should get you right in the mood to scrap while you wait out the "Frankenstorm", Hurricane Sandy.
So grab those fantastic Halloween colors have fun.  I can
t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Joy
I love Halloween! So Lynne's challenge was right up my alley. I used my Silhouette to cut
out these little boxes and a stamp set that I bought one year ago. I finally inked it up for
this Halloween and made some cards and treat boxes.

Bronwyn

Happy Hallowe'en everyone!!

How could I not do something spooky with this colour combination??

My youngest son's costume went perfectly with this theme.
Isn't he the cutest green and purple dragon ever??

Home Sweet Home challenge #57

Good day everyone!!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Are you eager for another challenge here at "Use Your Stuff?"

Autumn always makes me think of all things cozy and homey.  At this time of year we begin to spend more time in our homes and look for more ways to enjoy it - fireplaces, cups of tea and a good book.

This week's challenge involves thinking about your home.
What makes you home sweet?  What do you love about it it?  Have you ever scrapped about it?
Do you ever use paper printed with homes?  How about  house-shaped stamp?

Here is my layout.  It features pictures of several vignettes around my home - cozy little corners that make my house a home.

Looking forward to seeing what YOU come up with.

Barb
My layout also features pictures of my home. It's funny how we forget to document the things like this so I was glad to be able to do it.

Joy

I created this 6x12 canvas to hang in my home.
I made the sky from crumpled up tissue paper and paint.
The rest is made from scraps from my stash.

Lynne

Well last to the party this week.  I just had my very old house resided and  I had a new roof put on.  It really, really needed it.  So when this challenge came up, I knew exactly what I had to do with all those pictures I took of the home improvement project.   '17 pictures on the layout' later, here is what I came up with.  Thanks for the perfect challenge, Bronwyn.  I am excited to see how others interpret this.

Challenge #56 Back to Basics

Glad to see you back again :)

Hi it's Joy here with this weeks challenge and we are going back to basics. I think brads are a basic embellishment that most paper crafters have in their stash. Although just because the are a
basic supply does not mean that I use them often.

Your challenge is to get 3 or more brads onto
your project this week.

I dug into my kinda large stash of brads for my project and....
I managed to get 7 on my layout.

Lets see what the girls made this week.....

Lynne
I love brads.  Always have.  Always will.
I used just 5 here.

Bronwyn

My two oldest children are off to birthday parties this weekend so I needed one girl card and one boy card.  Same design, different look... Can you tell which is which?   :)
Round brads on the left and heart-shaped ones on the right.

Barb
I love brads too, but like Joy, I don't use them often enough. It's the perfect finishing touch.
I added just three brads on this layout.

#55 - Journal Strips

To all the Canadian readers, Happy Thanksgiving to you all. May you feel especially blessed today.

I use a lot of journal stips and/or word strips on my projects. I just love the look of it. For me, it just makes the journaling into more of a design feature. So, my challenge this week is to use either journal or word strips on you project.

On this layout, I put strips of white-core cardstock through my dymo labeller and then used my sanding tool to sand the raised bits to reveal the white underneath. It's a much cheaper alternative to buying dymo tapes, and you can match the colours to your project.

I hope you can join us in this challenge. Don't forget to come back and link your project up here with Mr. Linky below. We can't wait to see your projects.

And now, here's what the other Creative Team Members have come up with:

Lynne
HI everyone.  I am a little late to the 'party' this week.  I am still getting settled in from my road trip vacation so here is an 'oldie but goodie' from my stash.

Joy
I cut up some words into little strips for this canvas project.
It says 'she loved her life and the ones in it'.

Bronwyn

Almost all of my layouts use journalling strips.  I love how you can fit them in anywhere!
Her is a double page LO of the family visiting Riverdale Farm in Toronto in the summer.

Challenge 54 - Banners

Hi everyone! Lynne here. I have fallen in love with BANNERS. I think this is the best scrapbooking fad that has come along in a long time. So my challenge for you this week is to use a banner on your layout or card. Have fun and thank you for creating with us here at Use Your Stuff.

Barb
Well, I haven't used a whole lot of banners in my projects, so I was very excited when I found out what this week's challenge was going to be. What I had originally planned on doing, ended up on the back burner when I was working on this layout and decided to add banners to it. I really like how banners look and enjoyed playing with them this week.

Joy
I'm SO happy this week to be back posting here & back to crafting after our move.
I love banners Lynne!
I dug into my stash and found some BG Life of the Party chipboard and papers.
I added some glossy accents to the stars and used a Stamping Bella sentiment.
